ABOUT US
Lucila Álvarez Grillo
In 2011, I began practicing Hatha Yoga in my hometown of Resistencia, Chaco, Argentina. Soon, attending yoga classes became a central part of my life. In 2015, I was introduced to Ashtanga through my Hatha teacher, Gabriela, with whom I spent several years combining both practices.
In 2018, my partner and I moved to Valencia. The practice of Ashtanga became my anchor and my home amidst so many changes. Towards the end of that year, I began teaching my first classes. During my first years sharing this experience, I worked in several yoga centers in the city, offering in-depth classes and workshops.
In 2022, I felt the need to have my own space where I could share my experience while respecting the traditional method. Thus, Ekam Ashtanga Yoga Valencia.
During these ten years of Ashtanga journey, I have practiced with several renowned teachers such as Alexia Pita, Jonata Puente, Luke Jordan, among others. Eager to further deepen my training, I traveled to India twice: the first in 2020, to practice with Rolf Naujokat, and the second in 2024, to practice with Sharmila Desai.
For many years, I have continued my training with Lucía Andrade, a certified teacher from the Sharath Yoga Centre, with whom I find a strong connection when it comes to teaching, experiencing, and sharing the practice, with a solid balance between love and rigor.
I feel very fortunate to be able to be both a student and a teacher. It's undoubtedly one of the most precious gifts life has given me.
I had the opportunity to participate in the podcast Mysoreando to talk about my experience. You can listen to it here.

I started practicing yoga with the Ashtanga method in 2018 in my hometown of Río Cuarto, Argentina. I was looking to improve my flexibility and find a space that would help me cope with the initial stress symptoms of my new job.
During the 2020 pandemic, I made yoga a daily routine to pass the days of lockdown at home and signed up for several online workshops to deepen my practice. After the pandemic ended, I moved to the city of Valencia, where I continued practicing on my terrace for a while until I decided to join a studio.
In 2023, I decided to complete a 300-hour teacher training focused on the Vinyasa Flow style in Valencia. It was an opportunity to delve deeper into yoga philosophy, anatomy, how to sequence a Vinyasa class, how to make manual and verbal adjustments, and so on. At the same time, I practiced the Iyengar method in search of greater depth in terms of the anatomy and biomechanics of the asanas.
Upon completing this training, I knew the next step would be to delve deeper into the Ashtanga method. And that's how I came to Ekam Ashtanga Yoga and began practicing with Lucila. Without a doubt, it has become one of my greatest learning experiences, both physically and spiritually.
I am very happy to be part of this team, both as a student and a teacher, and I hope to continue growing together.

My first encounter with yoga was in 2015, in Italy, the country where I was born. Since then, this practice has become a passion that has continued to grow.
In 2017, I discovered the Ashtanga method, which captivated me from the very beginning and became an essential practice in my life. In 2020, I moved to Valencia following my heart, and it was there that I met Lucila, who has been my teacher on this Ashtanga Yoga path ever since.
Over the years, I have deepened my practice by attending workshops with various teachers and participating in courses on the main philosophical texts of yoga. In 2023, I completed a training in Hatha Yoga and Meditation, and last year I had the opportunity to travel to India, a deeply enriching experience that nurtured my understanding and commitment to this discipline.
My desire is to accompany others on their journey toward a more fulfilling and conscious life, using yoga as a tool for self-discovery and transformation. At the same time, my training in pharmacy and herbal medicine allows me to integrate a scientific foundation into this vision and thus offer a balanced and holistic approach to wellness.
I feel deeply grateful to my teachers and to all the people who have accompanied and inspired me along this path. Today, I am filled with joy to grow alongside the Ekam Ashtanga Yoga school, both as a student and as a teacher.
See you at the shala!
